Conclusion: Traditional medicine and modern research claim that fulvic acid (FA) can modulate the immune system, influence the oxidative status of cells, and improve gastrointestinal function; all of which are hallmarks of diabetes. This mini-review describes the available peer-reviewed research on FA and examines its anecdotal health claims. We show that although the available research has been minimal, there is substantial evidence for continued FA research in the prevention of chronic inflammatory diseases, including diabetes.

Conclusion: In diabetic rats, all three doses of shilajit produced a significant reduction in blood glucose levels and also produced beneficial effects on lipid profile. The maximum effect was observed with 100 mg/kg/day dose of shilajit. The combination of shilajit (100 mg/kg) with glibenclamide (5 mg/kg/day) or metformin (0.5 g/kg/day) significantly enhanced the glucose-lowering ability and improved the lipid profile than either of these drugs given alone. Thus, shilajit is effective in controlling blood glucose levels and improves the lipid profile.
